This was the first Engagement Session of 2017! We met for this Old Town Alexandria Engagement Session on a sunny and cool, late-February morning. We had flawless timing as the sun slowly began to illuminate Alexandria’s waterfront. Weekend mornings on this side of the Potomac feel brisk, but calming as the Alexandrian natives walk their dogs and enjoy morning jogs around Windmill Hill Park.
As the sun rose over the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge, it’s light gradually spilled into The Wilkes Street Tunnel. Steve escorted Liz from one end of the tunnel to the other as we took advantage of the radiance brought by the morning’s glow.
We followed the golden rays dockside for some waterfront shots by the water in Shipyard Park. One woman was on her morning walk and half joyfully asked and half excitedly yelled to us as she passed, “Sunrise engagement shoot?!”, and we all had a good laugh.
For the casual portrait portion of the session, we moseyed around Old Town, in and out of alleyways, stopping for photos with cobblestone that spoke to us. Another Alexandrian asked if we were lost and then offered to let us know where to get the best pastries in town, which we learned is at Society Fair. We finished our Old Town Alexandria Engagement Session just around the corner from Market Square, where they were hosting the Saturday Farmer’s Market.
I feel so very lucky to celebrate the joining of couples in marriage, but I am also honored that my couples trust me to capture this special time in their lives. Thank you Liz and Steve for choosing me to be your wedding photographer! I can’t wait for your wedding day.
