Sofia and John meet at a Game of Thrones-themed party at Sofia’s cousin’s place the weekend after Halloween in 2014. Sofia and her cousin live nextdoor to each other, so a few friends came to Sofia’s to hang out before the party; John was one of them. John was wearing a play crown, a cape, and holding a scepter, basically looking ridiculous. He instantly caught Sofia’s eye and she finds him charming, hilarious, and outgoing. He walks into the party, takes a seat right next to Sofia, and they are inseparable the remainder of the party. Sofia was the only girl that John wants to talk to all night. He finds her smart, beautiful, and the hostess with the mostest! Later that week he asks Sofia’s cousin for Sofia’s number and John asks Sofia out on an official date.

We plan to go to St. Lucia for John’s 30th birthday with hotel booked, car rented, and excursions ready for the celebration. One of the big plans is taking a sailboat along the island. John thinks it would be particularly special to charter a catamaran all to ourselves. He books it for the day after they arrive. They spend the morning of September 17, 2019 on the beach, kayaking and swimming. Sofia notices John is acting weird about kayaking. He secretly does not want to leave the backpack on the beach unattended because the ring is in there! He finally decides he will say he needs to go to the bathroom and he drops off the ring in their room.

They eventually kayak and get ready for the catamaran trip. Sofia and John are picked up at the hotel, they hop on the boat, and it was only the two of them (and the captain). The couple share rum punch, wine, and food. At 30 minutes into the ride, John says he is going to go get a drink. He comes back with the captain and says, “Sofia, will you stand up so the captain can take a picture of us”? She stands up, John gets down on one knee, and proposes! The catamaran is directly in front of the gorgeous Piton Mountains, in the ocean, all privately secluded. They celebrated with each other all day.

Sofia and John are excited to get to come home every day for the rest of my life to the person they love the most. They will spend all their life-changing moments and adventures with each other.
