Lindsay is a Project Manager from Chantilly, VA and Joey is a Planner from Ashburn, VA.

In early 2015, Corporal Paul Joseph Novak Jr. was serving as a Low-Altitude Air Defense Gunner (LAAD) in the US Marine Corps. Around this time, Lindsay, working as a Recruiter, transferred to a new project, moving two desks over from Joey’s sister, also named Lindsey and they quickly became friends. Fast forward to Valentine’s Day 2016, Joey recently transitioned out of the USMC and moved back to Herndon, VA. Lindsay was invited over to Lindsey’s (Joey’s sister) house for what was supposed to be a “girl’s night”. It was not a girl’s night. It was a set up. After a night filled with the game of Life and lots of laughing, Joey asked Lindsay for her phone number. Lindsay’s first impression of Joey was witty, handsome, and reserved. Joey’s first impression of Lindsay was cute, charming, and funny.

The day after they met, they went on their first date to an oyster bar for happy hour, which turned out to be hilarious because neither of them particularly enjoy oysters. They spent the next few months bonding over their shared love of their dogs (Duke, Lindsay’s English Bulldog and Dodger, Joey’s Terrier) and got to know each other through long walks, hikes, and dog park dates. They both enjoy local breweries and wineries, as well as cooking together. On December 22, 2017, Lindsay and Joey went out for dinner to Zeffirelli, what Joey was hyping up as an “Elegant Date Night”. When they arrived, red roses were delivered to the table and Lindsay thought “this is it”! After a lovely dinner, Lindsay let her guard down, knowing this was not “the night” and Joey decided they should visit Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights. After walking through the park in the beautiful lights, they sat down on a park bench. Joey got down on one knee, proposed, and Lindsay said yes!

They dated for a little less than 2 years before they got engaged, then were engaged for about 1 year before their wedding.

They are most excited to celebrate the sacrament of marriage with friends and family.

The bride and groom’s favorite wedding detail was enjoying the Winter Walk of Lights at Meadowlark during their Reception.

They had photos displayed at a memory table honoring their late grandfathers.

They spent their honeymoon at Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas.

They are looking forward to a long life together and starting a family.

The newlyweds currently reside in Reston, VA.
